Air China's inflight magazine had a thing or two to say about where not to visit in London, imbuing passengers with some not so savory advice, such as: "London is generally a safe place to travel, however precautions are needed when entering areas mainly populated by Indians, Pakistanis, and black people." Oh dear.
Hainan Airlines will likely start flying from Beijing to Las Vegas beginning in December. It may seem surprising that Hainan joins only one other Asian airline, Korean Air, in offering non-stop service to the US gambling and entertainment city. However, considering that Macau left Vegas in the desert dust as the world's top gaming destination years ago, the lack of flights starts to make more sense.
Hotel Jen will open its third hotel in China and second in Beijing on the first 22 floors of the China World Tower B complex, which is still under construction. That will give Shangri-La four hotels in the CBD: Kerry Hotel Beijing; China World Summit Wing; China World Hotel; and Traders Hotel. Hotel Jen Upper East Beijing is already in operation.
China Eastern, an airline this author identifies intimately with delays, will fly to Sydney from Hangzhou beginning on November 16. That adds to its two existing Sydney routes, from Nanjing and Shanghai, respectively. However, beware the domestic-connection-to-international-flight: as one reader noted on Tuesday, passengers have frequently had problems checking their full baggage allowance for these flights, as domestic limits are lower.
