First thing's first: If you haven't heard about Maovember or our boss Mike Wester’s Mao-a-Thon, the latest installment, Beer-Active,will be held tonight (Nov 9) at BActive. For RMB 100, Ankit Nayal will lead you through a keg-hoisting workout starting at 7.45pm, before everyone heads across the street to Slow Boat Brewery to replenish the calories you just burned in a sipping session hosted by yours truly.

If you are interested in meeting the legendary man that marked his 50th birthday with 50 laps of Ritan Park, or me (we can talk about beer), scan the QR code on the poster above to book your spot (maximum 20 spots) and join us at BActive Sanlitun. All money raised will go to our Maovember partner charities.

Maybe it's a coincidence that just after Beijing released its new rental policies, Great Leap Brewing will launch their latest batch of Beat the Landlord Barley Wine. Head to any of their three locations this Friday for a sip of the newest iteration of this strong 9.1 percent ABV barleywine, which is specially brewed to mark the sale of 100 batches of beer at GLB. This beer has complex and warming flavors and aromas, and will be available for RMB 25 for Collectivists (RMB 60 regular price).

If you missed theie appearance at the Great Leap beer fest this past March, fret not, Uinta Brewing (of Utah, USA) now stocks their their Lime Pilsner – a crisp and light-bodied beer with refreshing and zesty hints – to Dubujib and Harvest Brewery Wangjing.

Sticking with limes, Slow Boat has a new Limey Bastard Larger on tap, which has 4.2 percent ABV, and aromas of lemongrass and lime. If that's not strong enough to carry you through the frigid winter, they've also stocked a new premium whiskey/bourbon selection to warm you up from Laphroaig, Nikka, Kavalan, Four Roses, Buffalo, and Bulliet.

Xian Bar at East Beijing is throwing a Craft Music Festival on Nov 11, starting at 1pm. There will be endless craft beers, cocktails, and wine, and six bands performing over 12 hours. Best yet, there's no entrance fee. Call 8414 9810 for more information.

Those of you weeping over the closure of North Capital this past weekend, dry your tears: We recently received word that the hutong hotspot has not died, but merely merged with Great Outdoors (formerly Great Friend Outdoors Club) on Fangjia Hutong! On Nov 11, 4-11pm, head over to drink RMB 10 pints of selected beer all night long. Every RMB 50 spend will also get you entrance into a lucky draw. Additionally, Black Market Brewery and Drake’s Brewing will take over five of GO's taps on Nov 10 (RMB 45 a pint), 4pm-1am.

Finally, any of you heading south will want to drop by this weekend's (Nov 10-11) third Shenzhen’s Original Craft Beer Festival at Halo Plaza, Shenzhen. For RMB 100 (early bird two-day pass), you'll receive one commemorative beer mug, a custom bandana, and a free pint. You'll also spot a lot of familiar faces, such as Arrow Factory, Great Leap Brewing, Jing-A Brewing, Bionic, Bravo, Wuhan No. 18, Slow Boat, NBeer Pub, Young Master, and Master Gao.

Happy Thursday and cheers!
