The Fourth of July is a special day for Americans. We’ve survived kicking out our colonial oppressors (The Patriot), an alien menace (Independence Day), and even an unruly great white shark (Jaws). So needless to say, we kick butt when forced to get off our butts away from our VHS collections and cache of chips and dip. Here are a bunch of great events to get you out of the house and celebrating in style.
Jul 3-4: Independence Day BBQ and Puppy Presidential Election at The Local
Get over to The Local as they celebrate American independence with a little special election of their own. They will be lining up Beijing’s cutest puppies to determine which of these furry friends possesses the executive skills needed to reign over the free world. The fun doesn’t stop here. You can also expect an assortment of food and beverages to satisfy all of your July 4 needs, including burgers, hot dogs, with a succulent side of liberty and freedom. Free. 4-9pm. The Local
Jul 4: Great Leap's Fourth of July
Not many places represent the pull yourself up by the bootstraps mentality as Great Leap, so why not get your beer and comfort food fix from the pros. They will be offering their Chesty Puller IPA for RMB 25 a pop all day, or drop by their #45 location and get four beers (RMB 40 and under) and any pizza for RMB 200. Freedom is delicious. Jul 4: Free Beer for US Citizens!
As the premier location for a classy retreat to the Great Wall, the fabulous (and also American) folks behind The Brickyard Retreat Center at Mutianyu Great Wall are offering a free beer to all of their guests who attend their famed July 4 barbecue. Wake up early and take a hike on China’s most famous fortification, then get back to The Brickyard and eat and drink to your heart’s content, but don’t forget your passport. For all they know you could be a Canadian spy.
Jul 4: Celebrate July 4th with APSA at Q Mex
Enjoy a four-course dinner with unlimited beer and wine followed by dancing and festivities courtesy of APSA and Q Mex! Proceeds will go towards their mission of empowering deserving American youth through global education so that they may change the world of tomorrow by learning to cooperate, collaborate and innovate across national borders.
